Simi Valley, CA – On May 10, 2025, at 5:56 p.m., a dump truck overturned on the Kuehner Avenue exit ramp from the westbound 118 Freeway in Simi Valley, prompting a response from the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) and California Highway Patrol (CHP). The crash, attributed to a tire blowout, caused no injuries but led to the closure of the exit ramp for hours as crews worked to clear the truck’s load, believed to be dirt.

VCFD and CHP units responded to reports of an overturned dump truck on the Kuehner Avenue exit, finding the vehicle on its side with its load of dirt spilled across the ramp, per a VCFD alert. The crash was caused by a tire blowout, with no driver error reported, according to CHP’s preliminary investigation. The driver and passenger, both adult males, escaped unharmed and remained at the scene, cooperating with authorities.

As of 8:15 p.m., the exit remained closed as crews transferred the dirt to other trucks for removal, a process complicated by the load’s volume. Authorities have not confirmed whether the dirt was debris from the Eaton Fire, though speculation arose due to the region’s ongoing cleanup efforts. No structural damage or secondary collisions were reported.
