Winnetka, CA – A violent stabbing incident occurred on Sherman Way near Lurline Avenue, outside the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Winnetka, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at approximately 2:00 AM. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Topanga Division responded to reports of a man wandering in the street, only to discover him lying on the ground, bleeding from a stab wound.
I arrived at the scene and saw a man lying in the road on the ground and I immediately checked on him as I noticing a stab wound to his side. A lady who was a bystander was on the phone with 911 when I told her he had been stabbed. LAPD upgraded the call to a stabbing and arrived shortly after. The victim stated that he was walking on the sidewalk when a suspect riding a bicycle approached and stabbed him and fled the scene. The motive for the attack remains unclear.
LAPD officers and paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) arrived swiftly, assessed the victim’s condition, and transported him to Northridge Hospital Medical Center for treatment of the stab wound. The victim’s condition has not been disclosed, but authorities confirmed he was conscious when taken to the hospital. The suspect, described only as an individual on a bicycle, remains at large.
LAPD Topanga Division is actively investigating the incident and canvassing the area for witnesses that may help identify the perpetrator. The intersection of Sherman Way and Lurline was briefly closed as police secured the scene and collected evidence.
