West Hills, CA – On April 11, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a fire in an LA Sanitation trash truck at the intersection of Vanowen Street near Woodlake Avenue in West Hills. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which originated in the truck’s bed, likely due to crushed lithium-ion batteries in the compacted trash. The fire caused a temporary street closure but no injuries, highlighting the growing risk of battery-related fires in the San Fernando Valley.
