West Hills, CA — July 1, 2025, 12:15 PM A tense standoff is currently underway at 22600 block of Mobile Street in West Hills, where a suspect, identified as the son of the homeowner, has barricaded himself inside his father’s residence following a disturbing incident. The suspect allegedly chased his father with a large hunting knife, prompting the homeowner to flee and contact authorities.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Topanga Division responded to the 911 call, received at approximately 12:01 PM PDT. Officers attempted to establish contact with the suspect, described as wearing blue shorts, but he has refused to comply with orders to exit the home. The situation escalated further when police learned that a loaded shotgun is present inside the residence, heightening concerns for the safety of all involved.
LAPD’s SWAT team has been deployed to the scene and is equipped with a robotic device to assist in resolving the standoff peacefully. Authorities are actively working to negotiate with the suspect while securing the surrounding area. LAPD SWAT made entry to the home and were unable to locate the suspect.
