West Hills, CA – On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 12:04 PM, the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a call for a stranded hiker at El Escorpion Park, near the cave on a hiking trail in West Hills. The hiker, a man in his 60s, was stuck in the upper part of the cave but reported to be in stable condition.
LAFD Air Ops Helicopter 7 was deployed to assist ground units in locating the hiker. Firefighters successfully helped the man descend from the cave, and he was able to walk back to his vehicle without requiring medical transport. The operation was completed efficiently, ensuring the hiker’s safe return. Authorities remind hikers to exercise caution and be prepared when exploring rugged terrain.
