West Hills, Calif. A fast-moving brush fire erupted in light vegetation on a hillside behind residences near 8900 block of N Megan Avenue in the West Hills neighborhood on Monday, August 4, 2025, threatening nearby homes. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) swiftly deployed 50 firefighters, backed by aerial resources, to combat the blaze, which charred approximately one acre of terrain.
The fire, which broke out in the early afternoon, burned uphill behind four homes, causing minor damage to two structures. Thanks to the LAFD’s aggressive and coordinated response, the fire was fully contained by 3:23 PM, preventing further spread and eliminating the need for evacuations. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as crews continue to monitor the area for hotspots.
