ACTON, Calif. A rapidly spreading brush fire, named the “Hawk Fire,” erupted in Acton, California, on Thursday afternoon, scorching an estimated 400 acres and threatening structures in the community northeast of Santa Clarita. The blaze, first reported around 3:00 p.m. near the 35900 block of Trenmar Drive, exploded in size due to dry vegetation and low humidity, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Evacuation orders and warnings were swiftly issued for areas from southern Palmdale to southern Acton, extending as far west as Santa Clarita. The fire, moving at a moderate to rapid rate, has put homes at risk, prompting urgent calls from law enforcement for residents to evacuate immediately.
Firefighting efforts are underway, with Los Angeles County Fire Department crews, alongside Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles Fire Department resources, working to contain the blaze. Air support, including two type one and two type three air tankers, as well as helicopters, are conducting water and retardant drops to slow the fire’s advance.

As of Thursday evening, the Hawk Fire remains at 0% containment, with no reported injuries, fatalities, or destroyed structures. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities warn that shifting winds could complicate containment efforts.
Residents are urged to monitor the Cal Fire incident page, L.A. County Fire updates, and local evacuation maps for real-time information. This is a developing story, and updates will follow as firefighting efforts continue.
