West Hollywood, CA – On May 9, 2025, at approximately 1:42 p.m., a dump truck careened into the legendary Whisky a Go Go music venue at 8901 Sunset Boulevard, causing significant structural damage to the historic nightclub and sparking chaos on the Sunset Strip. The crash, which also involved a mail truck and a utility pole, disrupted an upcoming scheduled performance tonight.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACOFD) responded to reports of a major collision at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and North Clark Street, finding a dump truck that had plowed into the Whisky a Go Go’s exterior. The truck, carrying a full load, suffered brake failure while descending a hill, striking a mail truck, snapping a utility pole, and crashing into the venue’s facade before catching fire.

No injuries were reported, but the Whisky sustained damage to its back wall and windows, with debris littering the sidewalk. The mail truck driver escaped unharmed, and the dump truck driver, a 45-year-old male, remained at the scene, cooperating with the LASD. The venue’s iconic sign was spared, but structural assessments are ongoing.
