WESTCHESTER, CA — On August 22, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., a tragic shooting occurred on an MTA bus at the intersection of Manchester and Belford Avenues in Westchester, Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Division.
Officers responded to reports of a person shot and found a young female victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was unconscious and not breathing. The MTA bus driver was performing CPR when emergency personnel arrived. Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) paramedics transported the victim to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, with CPR ongoing. Despite medical efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Witnesses reported that the victim and her boyfriend were involved in an altercation with a group of three to six individuals on the bus. One witness suggested the victim may have used pepper spray to defend her boyfriend, prompting a suspect—described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years old, 5’10” tall, wearing a black hoodie and grey pants—to open fire, striking the victim in the chest.
The LAPD has a photo of the suspect, but no arrests have been made as of yet. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Pacific Division.
