Echo Park, CA — At 8:59 PM on June 23, 2025, a structure fire broke out at 1535 Mohawk St, starting in a garage and extending into a one-story single-family home. Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) crews arrived to find the blaze spreading into the residence, but all occupants safely evacuated before their arrival.
Thirty-two firefighters tackled the flames, launching an aggressive attack on the garage fire while simultaneously entering the home to combat the fire in the attic and protect property on the main floor. The coordinated effort led to a full knockdown of the fire in just 29 minutes.
No injuries were reported. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was called to address downed wires on the property. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
