Chatsworth, CA – On May 12, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a hiker rescue at 22560 Jeffery Mark Court, west of Chatsworth Park South, where a 42-year-old male hiker, found naked and stranded, was hoisted by helicopter and transported to a hospital in unknown condition.
LAFD crews from Fire Station 96, alerted by bystanders hearing cries for help, arrived to locate the hiker in a remote, rocky area west of Chatsworth Park South. The man, last in contact with a friend at 4:00 p.m., was naked and suffering minor injuries, possibly from a fall or exposure. Ground access was limited due to the steep terrain, prompting LAFD to deploy a helicopter for a hoist operation.
The helicopter, equipped with aerial firefighting resources, hoisted the hiker and performed a “short haul” to a predetermined helispot near Jeffery Mark Court by 9:44 p.m. Paramedics assessed him at the landing zone before transferring him to an LAFD ambulance, which transported him to a local hospital, likely West Hills Hospital, for further evaluation. His condition remains undisclosed, and the reason for his nudity—possibly heat distress or disorientation—is under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
