Chatsworth, Los Angeles November 30, 2025 A solo motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a vehicle on Santa Susana Pass near Red Mesa Drive, igniting a fast moving brush fire that briefly threatened the rugged hillside before being contained by emergency responders.

The incident unfolded around 12:50pm when a group of motorcyclists was traveling along the pass. One rider collided with an oncoming vehicle, causing the motorcycle to skid off the road into dry brush, where it burst into flames. The rider was found face down on the roadside and is currently being assessed by paramedics for injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported the fire rapidly spreading uphill along the mountainside, fueled by the steep, rocky terrain. By 12:53pm Los Angeles City Fire Department crews arrived on scene at 11000 N Red Mesa Dr. discovering a 1/2 acre blaze with scattered spot fires advancing toward the ridgeline.

A full response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department joined the effort, deploying ground crews and aerial support to battle the flames in the challenging landscape. Initial reports described the fire as burning through medium brush with potential for downward spotting, prompting evacuations of nearby trails.
The incident Ruby IC provided an update from LAFD at 12:53pm announcing that forward progress had been stopped. The fire’s footprint was revised downward to just half an acre, with no further spread or spotting observed. Crews remained on site to fully extinguish hotspots.
