Calabasas, CA – On April 1, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) responded to a fully involved mobile home fire at a Calabasas mobile home park, resulting in the death of a resident, a reported hoarder, and injuries to a firefighter and a female resident. The blaze, complicated by a fuel spill under a nearby van, threatened neighboring homes, prompting a defensive firefight. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (Lost Hills Station) is investigating the fire as a crime scene.
LACoFD crews from Fire Station 68 arrived at the mobile home park on Mulholland Drive to find a single mobile home engulfed in flames, with exposures threatening adjacent homes. A fuel spill under a van at the scene heightened hazards, creating fire risks on both sides of the vehicle. Firefighters adopted a defensive strategy, using hose lines to contain the blaze and protect nearby structures while addressing the spill with absorbent materials to prevent ignition.
The fire was knocked down by 3:00 p.m., but not before the resident, a female known to neighbors as a hoarder, perished inside. Clutter likely fueled the fire’s intensity. A firefighter was treated on scene for heat-related injuries, and a female neighbor was transported to West Hills Hospital with undisclosed injuries, possibly smoke inhalation. The mobile home was destroyed, with minor heat damage to adjacent units. Lost Hills Sheriff’s deputies established a crime scene, with arson among the possible causes under investigation.
