SIMI VALLEY, CA – October 10, 2023 Fire crews quickly halted the spread of the #KuehnerFire Tuesday, after flames broke out near the Kuehner Drive on-ramp to eastbound Highway 118. The blaze, which sparked concern due to its proximity to residential areas, was contained with minimal ember fallout into the surrounding neighborhood, officials confirmed.
Emergency responders worked swiftly to establish containment lines, successfully stopping forward progress of the firebefore it could threaten nearby structures. At this time, no injuries or property damage have been reported. As a precaution, the Kuehner Drive on-ramp to eastbound Highway 118 was temporarily closed and is expected to remain closed for several hours while crews complete mop-up operations and ensure hotspot mitigation. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the closure.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no further details have been released.
Local fire agencies remind residents to remain alert during high fire risk conditions and to report any signs of smoke or suspicious activity immediately.
