Simi Valley, CA On Friday, September 5, 2025, the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire in the hills above Yosemite and Cottonwood Drive in Simi Valley. Initially reported as a small 2-acre fire, the blaze was driven uphill by dry brush, prompting a larger brush fire response.
Fire officials upgraded the incident to a second-alarm brush fire and called in additional air resources, including helicopters and air tankers, to combat the growing flames. Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the fire, successfully halting its spread at 25 acres. No homes were threatened, and no evacuations were necessary.
One firefighter had a minor injury after filming, however no others were reported. The fire has been knocked down, with crews remaining on scene through the night to conduct mop-up operations and ensure no hot spots remain. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
