CAMARILLO, CA – A suspect was shot by Ventura County Sheriff’s Department (VCSD) deputies on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Casa Del Norte mobile home community located at 4388 Central Ave, Camarillo, following a chaotic incident that began with a 911 call.


At approximately 12:31 PM PDT, the suspect called 911, reporting that he had shot someone. When VCSD deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect was uncooperative, repeatedly disconnecting from the phone and calling back. Authorities attempted to engage with him, but the situation escalated when the suspect emerged from the residence armed with a firearm.
According to the VCSD radio traffic the suspect began firing rounds at the deputies, prompting at least one deputy to return fire, striking the suspect. The suspect, who has not been identified, was arrested at the scene. No other victims were reported, and all deputies involved were unharmed.


The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident, including the suspect’s initial claim of shooting someone, which remains unverified. Further details regarding the suspect’s identity and motive have not been released. The Casa Del Norte community was temporarily secured as authorities processed the scene.
