Los Angeles, CA – June 20, 2025 – The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded rapidly to a brush fire, dubbed the #ShadowHills Fire, that ignited in the hills of Shadow Hills near 9609 N. Wornom Avenue at approximately 2:40 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025. The fire, which consumed approximately one-quarter acre of light to medium brush, was fully extinguished by LAFD crews, halting its forward progress by 6:06 PM, according to an official LAFD alert.

Firefighters, supported by air and ground resources, arrived to find the blaze moving at a slow to moderate rate toward heavier fuels. The LAFD deployed multiple units, including Battalion Chiefs 12 and 14, Engines 24, 77, 89, 274, 289, and 298, and air operations with water-dropping helicopters. Additional hand crews and air support from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest Fire were requested to bolster containment efforts. The fire posed no immediate threat to structures, and no injuries were reported.

The California Highway Patrol and Department of Transportation were notified to manage traffic in the area, ensuring safe access for emergency responders. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with dry vegetation and low moisture levels cited as contributing factors, consistent with reports of heightened fire risk across Southern California due to below-average precipitation and curing fuels.
The LAFD commended the coordinated response, emphasizing the importance of community preparedness in wildfire-prone areas. Residents are urged to maintain defensible space, stay informed through local alerts, and have evacuation plans ready, as outlined on the LAFD’s website. The swift containment of the #ShadowHills Fire underscores the department’s readiness to tackle brush fires amid challenging conditions in Los Angeles’ fire-prone regions.
