Woodland Hills, CA – At approximately a dramatic scene unfolded late Sunday night at 11:45 PM on May 25, 2025. The LAPD responded to a report of a large tree down across the road at 5700 Owensmouth Avenue, blocking multiple lanes. The owner of the vehicle, who was interviewed at the scene, recounted a chilling near-miss that could have ended in tragedy. He explained that just one minute before the tree fell, he had been at his car, retrieving an item from the trunk. As he walked back toward his apartment, he heard a loud crack and turned to see the tree collapse across the road, crushing his car. Fortunately, the owner escaped unharmed, though his vehicle sustained severe damage.
LAPD secured the area, and the owner is currently awaiting assistance from city crews to remove the tree and assess the damage to his vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the tree’s fall remains under investigation. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution in the area until the road is fully cleared.
